Well, we all know how some of people like to hit it pretty hard, particularly on a NYE…well, I’ve got some hints and tips so you can have a great night and an even better start to the next day!!!
- Gals, make sure that you take a look in the mirror before you leave the house! Check to make sure that you don”t have lipstick on your teeth….there”s nothing less stylish than having lipstick on the teeth
- Gents…make sure that you’re taking an objective look at yourselves in the mirror!! Check your hair…did you shave before you left the bathroom….are those jeans still looking as good as they did when you bought them? These are all important things to consider when you”re getting ready to go out!
SHOES are the window to the soul (sole!!!!)!
- Gals! Make sure that the shoes you choose to wear aren’t going to be off your feet when the clock strikes 12!! You don”t want want your tootsies having to deal with the concrete around town..you never know what you”re little toes will encounter! I recommend that you wear HOT shoes!! Shoes that are so HOT they will last you the entire evening!!! If you’re concerned that the shoes you”re planning on wearing will last you until that magical hour of midnight, pack a pair of fold up ballet flats in your bag! There are some amazing ones around…worst case, grab a pair of the Scholl ballet flats (I saw some in a local chemist the other day).
- Gents…choose some nice shoes!! Thongs aren’t the ideal footwear for a night full of dancing and being social! Just make sure that the shoes you wear go with what you’re wearing! There are some great shoes around for the boys at the moment that don’t break the bank…and the girls will love them!
3. PACE YOURSELVES!
- This is for the Ladies and the Gentlemen!! Make the commitment to yourselves before you embark on your adventure to pace yourselves with the amount of alcohol you drink! NYE particularly is traditionally a big night for many, and there’s nothing more unbecoming (in my opinion) than people hugging the curb/tree in an attempt to vacate their stomach’s of the night”s indulgence”s.
- The way to do this is to have a drink, then have a glass of water. Have a drink, then have a glass of water!
- Remember the old advert: 4 men and women 2….try to stick to this!!!
4. STICK WITH YOUR FRIENDS
- When you go out, if you’re going out with a group…make sure you stick with your friends. This will mean that you don’t end up on your own trying to battle your way through the taxi rank. There is definitely safety in numbers. This applies to the Gents and the Ladies. I have heard too many stories about men getting into trouble when they end up on their own, because they become an ‘easy target’ for other men looking for a fight. Ladies…we all know the dangers of ending up on our own. Make sure you”re always looking out for yourselves.
And then you get home…….
5. TAKE THE MAKEUP OFF
- Ladies, if there is one piece of advice I can give you that your skin will LOVE you for….it is to take your makeup off when you get home!!! Make sure you cleanse, tone and moisturise. (if you can’t be bothered doing this, then at least use a makeup wipe to remove the majority of the makeup – especially the mascara!!!) Mascara loves helping you change into a panda bear over night…..so removing your eye makeup is a must!
- Gents…if you’ve put makeup on for the night…same rules apply to you, too!! If not..just make sure you wash your face to clean off the ”grime” of the night…it will make you feel much better before you go to sleep
6. BRUSH YOUR TEETH!
- Ladies and Gentlemen….I know it sounds kind of obvious…but this is a must as well! There’s nothing worse than waking up in the morning and feeling like you’ve got furry teeth! Eww! The person you’re waking up next to doesn’t like this, either!! haha! Brush your teeth!!!
7. NOW THAT YOU’RE READY FOR BED…
- My hangover remedy is to take 2 panadol and drink a big glass of water before climbing into bed. Have a glass of water next to the bed as well. You’re sure to be dehydrated, which is how a lot of hangovers are actually induced, so be sure to have a glass of water next to you. If you wake up during the night (or early hours of the morning!!) have a big drink of water…this will lessen the hangover the next day (or whenever it is that you wake up!!!)
