Bra Fitting Checklist
- The wire (in underwire bras) should rest on your rib cage and never on the breast tissue, even at the sides.
- The centre section (in between the cups) must sit flat against your body.
- Breasts should not bulge or spill out from the cups on any bra, even soft cup bras.
- As bras stretch in the back with wear, it is recommended that a bra feels fairly tight and firm on the loosest hook when it is new.
- After wear, the bra should not leave any deep marks or lines on the body.
Sports Bras
Why is it important to wear a sports bra?
It is important to wear a sports bra when exercising to prevent damage to your breasts. Inadequate breast support during exercise can result in damage of breast tissue. A correctly fitted sports bra offers comfort and protection to the bust while exercising.
How can I tell if I am wearing the correct size sports bra?
A sports bra should be a firm fit, yet still comfortable and supportive when exercising and perspiring.
What should I consider when buying a sports bra?
You should consider what type of sporting activity you are participating in, and choose the corresponding level of support in a sports bra; low, medium, high or extreme. You can also consider whether you prefer a wire or non-wired bra.
- Low– Yoga, Pilates, Walking
- Medium– Cycling, Jogging
- High – Tennis, Netball, Basketball
- Extreme – Running, Triathalon
