I was at the gym today doing my PUMP class which I love… and I have these goals that I want to and strive for: Being Jennifer Lopez’s arms (have you seen them. OMG.). abs that are there without trying. They’re just there when I’m standing like a normal person… but then BAM: abs!!! I want strong legs, peachy ass… you know all the things!!!
So with the workout I had been noticing a bit of a plateau. I’d gone up in weights reasonably quickly from when I started back there earlier this year.. but then felt like I’ve been ‘stuck’ at the same weight for a while….
Until I had this idea that I was going to increase EVERYTHING (working out, work, intensity) by 20%. Consistently. and just experiment with it. Pushing down through my heels with 20% more intensity and awareness. 20 % more effort.
See, I’d become a bit ‘passive’. My core wasn’t always engaged. I wasn’t always pulling my shoulder blades together in exercises that demanded that. I’d drift off with my thoughts and was thinking about a whole host of different things.
I thought well, I wonder if I could improve by 20%… and if it was possible.. in a short time.
So I tried…
And I increased it EASILY.
I was blown away. BLOWN. AWAY.
The decision to give an extra 20% has seen me – in most of the tracks and exercises – easily increase and sustain a 20% increase across the board.
You are capable of more than you allow yourself to a) realise and b) experiment with!
With business, where do YOU NOT try something because you’re coasting along (ouch).
Where are you not playing full out because you’re worried you might look like a dill?
Where have you been hiding back because you’re worried nothing will change?
How often do you hold off on trying things because of the fear of spending money and things not working?
How often do you let THAT voice in your head – the one that keeps you ‘safe’… (Dude, you’re not going to die or be eaten by a bear if you launch an event or try to sell a program or do a livestream and it doesn’t work). How often do you let that rule the roost and talk you out of your wildest dreams?
Seriously.
Enough. Already.

I was worried my kids would get sick.
I was worried about investing money in hotels and not having anyone show up.
I was worried that I would announce that I was touring the country and nobody would want to come and meet me.
I think these are common fears, right?
The worry that things are not going to work..
That we look like a failure..
That we FEEL like a failure…
That this somehow becomes validation for our deepest fear: that this isn’t what we should be doing and pursuing.
We’re all very similar.
And I KNOW that if I’m going to become the LEADER that I know I’m destined to be, I need to lead the way.
Swallow the pill…
Swallow the pride..
And stop talking myself out of what the fuck I want to do.
