YOUR HAIR WON’T MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL
You are not your hair, your nails or your clothes. Although they can accentuate things, they are no the be all and end all……
I remember sitting at my old house, in my teeny tiny office thinking about, imagining, what it would be like to be able to afford to buy my first pair of Louboutin’s.
They were gorgeous. Black. Red sole hypnotic shoes, let me tell you! They have since been well worn, as you’ll see by this photo!
The point, however, is that while I imagined what it must be like to own them and walk around in them..up to that point, I didn’t and I hadn’t.
I never ever believed that I needed to have all the trappings to be successful. I didn’t feel like I needed the LV bags or the CL shoes or the Chanel purses. I still don’t, actually.
In fact, I remember the very very very first time I ever set foot in a designer clothing store in 2010. It was monumental for me. I never even felt comfortable going into David Jones, (a Nordstrom equivalent for my US friends or like Selfridges in the UK) and would feel like I needed to have my best clothes on, run in without making any eye contact with anyone in there for fear of being found out. I hated it.
It didn’t feel like me.
Fast forward to the first time I went into a ‘proper’ designer store! Say hello to Louis Vuitton. I nearly vomited out the front of the store for fear of being ‘found out’ as an imposter. Never mind that I had just made $500K + in sales in a week. Yes. I think I banked more in that month than I had ever before. It was insane.
And I still felt like I didn’t belong until I realised all the stupid shit in my head was just that: stupid shit!!!!
Every time I went away, I made it a practice to go in and make it just my new normal. Like buying more expensive bottles of champagne. Just a shift of a zero…… (there are no designer stores here! Bwahahaa).
I started to realise that all the silly chatter about how I was, how I thought I had to be, who I thought I needed to be in order to fit was all BS! Slowly but surely, I started to wake up to the fact that I amazing and that these stores were blessed to have me in them! Bwahaha!
I had made something like $3million in sales before having a professional photo shoot in a studio. I didn’t have a website designed for me by a graphic designer until 2017. SEVEN YEARS AFTER BEING IN BUSINESS!!!
I got hair extensions because I wanted them, but not because I felt like I needed them to be successful.
I got professional photos done because I wanted them, not because I felt like I ‘needed’ them.
I buy things that I want because I want them, not because they’re a rite of passage.
The hair doesn’t make you successful.
Your nails neither.
Nor your website.
Nor your fancy graphics.
The fancy pants bio.
The designer things.
Not the funnel.
Not the ads.
Not the colour coded Instagram feed.
NOTHING.
The thing that makes YOU successful is you.
The thing that makes you magnetic is YOUR heart, your soul, your vibe, your message.
If you’ve been feeling lost, maybe it’s because you’ve been focussed on the ‘wrong’ things.
It’s time for you to RISE UP.
It’s time for you to realise that YOU are the ‘secret sauce’.
That YOU are the key to making it all ‘work’.
It’s your personality, your tone, your ability to connect with people and have them share the experience with you that makes a difference.
Focus on the ‘right’ things and watch everything in your world SOAR.
