FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD

FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD

Today feels like a weird rambling kind of day. The day where there’s everything but nothing to do. Everything and nothing to say…

So I asked my daughter what I should write about and she said I should write about how I feel. And then she reminded me that the little kids aren’t here because they’re back at school much I miss them and her when she doesn’t come across to the house every day!!!

This girl of mine is divine. Yes, like all kids (or most anyway) she’s given us more than a run for our money!!! She’s independent, fierce, sassy, kind, gracious and full of attitude and moxie!!! She has less than zero tolerance for bullshit and is the kind of girl that you pretty much know where you stand most of the time.

Sometimes I wonder what the heck we’ve raised… and then I remember who her parents are!!!! Was it really really going to be any different to this!?!?!? Probably not.

(I literally just read out this much to my daughter and she approved!!! Hahahhaa!)

I work from home and have for a really long time. For last 10 years, actually, with only a brief 12 month stint in a space that I leased. I loved my hub. I called it the creative hub and I ran my events from there for a year.

In that space I felt like I was 12 years old when my Dad built my brother and I a cubby house. I loved that cubby. There was a blackboard in there (and yes, I would ‘teach’ my brother as often as I could) and I felt like it was my own television studio or whsatever else took my fancy.

When I set up the hub and my stage, it felt like it was my cubby.

My kids would come in and hang out in there, playing offices and having a ball!! Playing and dancing and doing talent shows on the stage.

It was the best!!!

Iso life was both awesome and not awesome for us. For me.

The shit part about it, quite obviously is the lack of the ability to go anywhere other than here. I know we’re not in Melbourne and we’re ‘lucky’ but it’s still shit. We can both be shit, right if you’re in Melbs. It’s just more shit if you’re there. Let’s not try to outdo each other in the depth of shitness.

So anyway.

I kind of miss is the restrictions though because the little kids are back at school (I know 12 and 14 is not that little, but we still call them “The Little Kids” hahahha). We had a routine of playing over breakfast, I’d head to work in my office. Then Tiana would come over and sit in my couch and dribble shit!! Hahhahaha!!

A bit like she is right now. Sitting over there, on the other side of the table gabbling away at all the things.

And I love it! I’m torn between the desire to write and write and write and the desire to listen and interact and write.

There are just some things that I would never change.

And this is one of them.

Today’s topic of conversation was how Tsunami’s happen. The scary movie she’s been watching. Her cat. And a whole heap of other things that fill up my soul.

It’s the rambling that fills us up. It’s the being available for the waffling and the rambling… that the good stuff comes out, right?

Every conversation doesn’t have to be about life changing, earth shattering stuff!!!!

Every blog doesn’t have to have a billion words with all the steps and antidotes and strategies and answers.

You know when you’re hanging out with your friends and you’re just talking a whole lot of ‘stuff’? It could be over wine or champagne or cocktails… and the conversation just rambles in the most natural of ways and it’s FUN!?!?!?

It feels easy and relaxed and chilled out…

What if your approach to blogging, writing, livestreams and content creation was like this?

What if you stopped stressing over it and enjoyed the fun, curly, topsy turvy feeling that feels so good to just follow the path of the bouncing ball…

It makes me think of Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz and how she just followed the yellow brick road. She knew she wanted to get to Oz but didn’t know how to get there and just kept following the yellow brick road.

Creating what you want is a bit like this. You need to trust that you’re going to end up in the place that you want to end up in (with an online business, a badass course, a killer blog) and let the path take you in the way that the path is going to take you.

You’ve just got to trust and pretend that you’re Dorothy on the yellow brick road.

Follow the yellow brick road!

Follow the yellow brick road!

I miss my kids all being home.

I miss them calling out asking if it’s time for a break and if we can play cards yet.

I miss chatting and the noise and the laughter.

I love having Tiana coming in at around 1.30p and jabbering to me for a while until she gets bored!

I love it.

I wouldn’t change it for the world.

What blows me away is that I created this!!!! Well, maybe not true.. I co-created this. Me and the Universe. Me and God. Me and Source. Whatever word you want to use.

My job has been simple. Stay on the yellow brick road and trust that the path is leading me to where I want to be… to stay in my lane. To continuously declare what I want along the way. To be unapologetic about it all. To stay healthy so I can travel the winding yellow brick road and to have fun along the way.

And of course, to wear freaking FABULOUS shoes along the way!
