A letter for you that’s kind of also for me, because we are on some level, the same, you and I.
You were born different. You went through school feeling different. Almost odd.
I used to imagine as a child, that I was famous. Like world-renowned famous.
Quite often, you’d find me at the back of the rural property that I grew up on, standing on the fence post singing and performing for the crops that backed onto our property.
I would pretend that I was a game show host. That I was a television star. That I was a talk show queen.
I was always performing for an audience –either in human form or to the crops or to the energy that I somehow have always known was there.
From putting on literal dances at school with my friends, singing, playing a musical instrument.
I always knew that I would be famous in some way, shape or form.
And it was odd for me, when was 30-something that I wasn’t yet! It was a confusing thought, because I always knew that it would happen.
What was more confusing, was that, as my business grew and my audience grew, that I’m not famous like I thought I would be – as in cinema-famous – because I never in a million years thought that it would be doing it in the way that I’m doing it.
Somewhere along the way, we learned how to ‘adult’ and we stopped believing that it could happen in a way that we envisaged it. So wholeheartedly.
We bought into ‘them’ telling us that we’re vain.
Or not talented enough.
Or not ‘built’ in the right way physically.
Or not smart enough.
Or didn’t that we didn’t follow the right pathway.
Or we’re too talkative (me!!!) or we’re too full on. Too energetic. “I don’t know how you do it” or “can’t you just slow down”.
I even had a therapist once say to me “I have no idea how anyone could possibly even keep up with you, Nicola. You’re exhausting”.
I say FUCK NO.
That’s enough.
I say that if you’ve ever felt like this, that it’s ok.
I say this:

The women who know they’re born for greatness and big things.

The example of this, is that I have always had ‘all of the words’. Always! And I’ve had people tell me over the years that it really ought to be condensed in order for people to WANT to read it. #stabinmyheartrightthere
I have this conversation with my husband all the time! I NEED to get all of the words out of my face otherwise I feel stifled. Yes, I make sure that what I’m saying is relevant and of course, important – which it is, because I’m saying it, of course! He, on the other hand, has a lot LESS words. Significantly less words, which is just perfect for him.
