As we know it’s been a helluva ride over the past few weeks .. well, if we’re honest, it’s actually been the last 18 months. And whilst the majority of it has been actually pretty good. Take out the lack of travel, of course.
Something that I think has been super interesting, though, is the beliefs that I have had about how I ‘should’ or how I ‘have to’ work.
I remember years ago doing my ideal perfect day exercise. I wanted my family home with me. My husband working from home. Me working from home. I wanted to be coaching/working for maybe half of the day and the other half doing whatever I damn well pleased to do! Either on my own or with the fam. Exercise was in there. Beautiful surroundings was in there.
Something that has come about as a silver lining from The Rona has been that I have made some strategic decisions around how I actually work. And guess what? I haven’t died yet!
The things that I have worked to create over the past 11+ years of growing this business, is to create a huge bank of content that allows people the space to jump in, roll in it, lap it up, immerse themselves in it and binge on it… to their little heart’s content without me having to be there ‘live’.
I did, however, forget somewhere along the way that this was what I was working to create.
You see, I did get caught up in the ‘likes’ and the ‘views’. I did get caught up in constantly being online. I did get caught up in the commitment and the addiction of being on socials every day LIVE and delivering new content via livestreams.
Thing is, I loved it. Until I found it hard.
Creating the content wasn’t hard. I just found that my heart was trying to find a way to grieve the way my business used to look… how I used to be able to freely travel around the world whenever I damn well pleased. Free to be able to do things in the way that I wanted to do them.
And honestly, it felt like it was hard to show up every single day and deliver new new new with the smiley shiney face that you all are used to!
I realised just this past weekend that actually what I WANT to do now is different. It’s changed a little. (This is a little ‘do as I say not as I do’ type of advice if you’re not quite where you want to be yet with your visibility!!!!).
I am going to do a weekly LIVESTREAM that I can commit 1000008787% to! Yep. That’s the statistical number.
I know it’s the right decision because I feel excited to do it! I feel excited to jump on LIVE. That has been gone for a little while.
What I think is important, and I’ve been preaching this for YEARS is that you have to do things that are in alignment with you and where you’re at and where you’re going.
So if you are not yet visible… if you don’t have 300 videos on your Facebook page that people can trawl through.. if you don’t have at least 2 posts going up on your business page every single day and have been for the past year… then you need to sit your ass down and do THAT!!! Aligned or not. Visibility is the goal, here, right?
For you, what you need to do is this:
- Determine what your point of difference is and how you’re going to leverage this! (Hint: It’s you, your personality, your knowledge and your amazingness!)
- Then, you need to be clear that you are talking directly to the audience who you want to help
- Then, create a content plan that helps them! (It’s easier than you think)
- You then need to show up every single day, doing the things online that you need to do in order to motivate, inspire, educate and engage them.
Sounds easy right?
It’s easier than you might think.
Give yourself a year. A whole year to really knuckle down and do this, and I can guarantee you that it won’t take you to your eleventh year to realise (uh duh) that you can wind things back a bit because you have a kickass content library there that people can go through!
