The renewal

The renewal

Ahhh the beautiful sound of Monday morning and my alarm going off super early. I can’t say bright and early.. because it was dark. Dark dark dark and early!

Yesterday, Sunday, I felt better than I had in a while, actually. I woke up cheery. I woke up with laughter on my lips. I woke up without the alarm… the same way I had for the past week.

We were due for a holiday – long overdue, actually. But, hello: Lockdowns. Like many of us here in Australia, the ability to get away was ripped from us at almost the last minute. First world problems? Perhaps. We haven’t taken time out as a family for a couple of years. We were supposed to be away when the Rona hit hard at the start of 2020 and then we all know how the rest of 2020 went!!! The last holiday was in 2019 – but honestly, I can’t even remember what it was.

So, this past week, rather than being away or kicking on with work, we decided to have Holiday Week at home. No school (homeschool). No work. No alarms. No commitments. Just doing whatever we damn well felt like.

There was a lot of lazing around. A lot of junk food consumed. A lot of laughter and chatter. A lot of walking. My 2nd daughter and I learned how to crochet. My son played endless amounts of playstation. Hours per day, actually. My hubby and I didn’t do much. Mooched. He painted a wall – that then got rained on and had to paint it again!! (Is it wrong that I laugh a little too much at that?!?! Hahahahaha!). Chats with the parents. Fire pits. I attempted to start to read a book but didn’t. Spent far too much time scrolling on my phone whilst ruling the roost from the couch.

Zero guilt.

And the world didn’t end. *gasp*. I know.

It feels like this year has been whipping through at warp speed but at the same time dragging on ever so slowly. Not sure it that’s just me or if it’s a collective issue. But nonetheless, it has felt like I’ve been living in a quite dual timeline.

There’s been a lot for us all to deal with, hasn’t there?

What I’m really enjoying this morning, though is a renewed sense of fun and passion for what I do.

I recently did my signature event VISIBLE | LIVE online…. And man, oh man I loved running it! The people in attendance loved it! The people who caught up on the recording loved it.

It was a GREAT reminder to focus on doing what you love to do.

Following on from that event, we took a holiday week as a family – as I mentioned before.

I felt no pressure whatsoever to do anything at all…. And by Saturday afternoon I knew it, I could FEEL it, that I was going to feel much more like ‘me’ come Monday.

We all can experience burnout at different times… and I what I know for certain is that it’s important to make sure that you’re taking time out to reset… I just haven’t been very good at that over the past 19+ months. There have been heightened tensions on many levels.

I figured I would share with you today my TOP 7 points on how to make it through, well, almost anything!!!!

The top 7:

  • Focus on what you love
  • Passion – find it again!
  • Fun – the key to ‘it all’ really
  • Take time out  – without guilt. Tools down. Do what you what, how you want. You can do it.
  • Rest – it’s important!
  • Reset – helps the brain
  • Simplify – we don’t need to be doing a zillion things a day… do the least amount possible for MAXIMUM impact.

Hope this helps!

You rock.
