Welcome to Monday Madness!
It’s DAY ONE of the school holidays here in Victoria, Australia today…. although it doesn’t necessarily feel like it given the lockdowns that we’ve been experiencing. The kids are very happy to not be zooming today, though! #winning
We are all in the throes of huge changes and pressures in the world. And no matter where you land on the many issues that are at hand, there is ONE BIG THING that I can tell you with absolute certainty and conviction:
YOUR FUTURE DEPENDS ON YOU
This is something that cannot be taken away.
It’s not something that can be argued.
It’s not even something that can be voted on!
It. Just. Is.
I was ‘lucky’ to spend a couple of days last week hanging out with Allied Health Professionals from around Australia in a World Class Conference “Elevate 2021” put on by my wonderful friend (and previous client) Gerda Muller.
Yes, I am not an Allied Health Professional. However, I still took something away from every single speaker and the attendees were there.
It was the reminder for me to take some of my own advice!!!! (Isn’t this always the toughest advice to take??)
A prompt that I have used often in my journalling whilst nutting through problems, issues and goals or ways to move forward has been “If my client / friend was going through this and seeking advice, what would I say to them?” It’s not always comfortable doing this, but it can be a good reminder that ‘the answers are within’!!!
I delivered a keynote to the attendees and my ‘job’ was to motivate and inspire them, and from the feedback and the comments they shared, I think I did my job!!!
Here are the cliff notes and main points for you:
* We are not in competition with each other.
* There is more than enough ‘work’ and clients to go around for us all to be wildly abundant and to succeed.
* We are in crisis right now in this country. We need Allied Health Professionals to step up and step into the spotlight.
* In addition to the above, people are reeling and they don’t know who to trust. They don’t know who to listen to. They don’t know what to do. You need to step up and step out and let them know that you’re there to help.
* This not only applies to AHP it also applies to coaches, mentors, teachers, creators. We need you more than ever.
* Stop getting caught up in your head. Have a framework to rely on, that has your ideal client at the forefront of your mind and tailor everything that you put out there to THEM!!!!! Don’t make it about it. Make it about them.
* There will be people who like you. People who don’t. People who agree with you and people who won’t. (Sounds a little Dr Suess-ey but it’s true). Don’t worry about those who don’t like you… especially if you’re like me and have a high desire to be liked! (Yes. It’s true. I do). But DO NOT let that stop you from doing what you are here to do – help people.
That pretty much sums it up.
The bottom line is this: People don’t know you exist if you stay hidden in the shadows. They just don’t. And they need you. Truly. More than ever.
