When I decide something, it’s like a tap is turned on (or off) and it’s very black and white.
I am ex-smoker. I started smoking when I was around 19 and it was just ‘social smoking’. Newly single and going out with girlfriends who would smoke when we were out clubbing. We’d often buy a pack between us and share it and this would last a couple of weeks.
I remember somehow ending up with the packet that had a few remaining in them still in my handbag after a weekend out. I was driving to meet some of them through the day to watch a local football or soccer game and I really felt like I wanted a cigarette. This was odd! It was through the day. I wasn’t drinking. And, I was on my own. When I pulled up, I lit it up!
Gasp! My first day time cigarette… in a long line of many.
It was a gradual build up for me, yet, before I knew it, I was a full time smoker. And yes, I enjoyed it. I loved it, actually. It seems W I L D L Y ridiculous now. I mean, *ugh*. But I did. From what I’ve learned since then, it’s not just the nicotine that one becomes addicted it, it’s also the breathing. So often these days we simply are not breathing enough, not deeply enough. We tend to hold our breath when we’re working on the computer or phone and when we’re concentrating.
When I found out I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, however, I quit cold turkey. Not one more cigarette was smoked. Tap. Off. I don’t remember any real withdrawal symptoms. I don’t remember getting the shakes. I don’t remember anything other than ‘this was a lot easier than I thought’.
After I stopped breastfeeding I decided to partake again. Not around the baby, of course! I was in a very unhealthy relationship, there was DV going on and smoking, for me felt like a stress reliever and a bit of an escape.
When I decided to quit, again, it was a ‘snap of the fingers’ decision. A couple of friends of mine were living with me at the time, so we decided to run with the patches. I think I lasted a day using those, and then TAP OFF! I didn’t smoke again or use them after that.
From what I can remember, I’ve always been like this once I decide. It’s like there’s nothing in the world that can stop me or shift me. It’s like the universe knows that I have made the commitment and the decision and BANG, we’re on the train to whatever it is I’ve decided. Everything seems to conspire towards supporting me in that decision.
This is what alignment feels like to me.
Certainty.
Decisiveness.
Action.
The ones that seem to stick the most, and feel the most aligned … are also the ones that I haven’t contemplated for long. Perhaps minutes. Sometimes hours. But rarely days. And never weeks or months.
I’ve back ‘in the office’ this week. (When I say office, I mean anywhere in my house where my laptop happens to be. The kitchen table… the kitchen bench.. the couch. My parents have been here over xmas and my office was converted into a guest room!).
I have made some choices around what I wanted to do this week and have come into the days feeling motivated and pumped for the year.
I feel clear.
I feel calm.
I feel excited to experiment and try some things this year and see with eager anticipation what comes up and through.
I decided that I was going to have FUN. And this week has been fun!
I decided that I was going to run a program that is SO fun (and gets insane results for people!). And so I launched it yesterday.
I decided that I was going to do all the work I wanted to do in part time hours so I can enjoy the kids while they’re still home from school/work.
I decided to go in the pool with the kids and be splashed (many of you know what a big deal this is!!!!! Blonde hair, chlorine and lashes…. HELLLLLLO!!). And oh it was fun! My eyeballs didn’t like it, but that’s ok.
What it’s reminded me of, again (like a slap to the head) is that we can decide and shift out state in a heart beat. Literally.
We can change the way we feel about something in an instant.
YOU are in control of how you FEEL.
You are in control of how you show up.
You are in control of your attitude.
You are in control of what you then DO.
When you decide, the universe conspires to support you. I promise!!!
When have you seen this play out for YOU?
When have you decided to do something and it just seems to happen? It just feels right? It just IS… and then you reap the rewards?
Because I think it’s the best thing since sliced bread (which is pretty damn awesome by the way!), I also want to share the program that I’m running in February. It’s called #Contentology and it was literally created in a moment of decision like described above.
I was journalling one day and it came to me out of nowhere! I was thinking about what works for me. What helps me with my content… and what often helps ME with MY content, is looking at a meme, looking at a word, looking at a sentence or an image and feeling reminded of something that’s happened for me or inspired by it.
For me, if I am struggling to come up with something to say or something to share, in the past, I’ve headed to the Gooogle and have searched for motivation or inspiration. And have then seen a word, phrase or an image that then hopefully I’m inspired by it to write something or share something about that.
Now, I know I’m not alone in this. I know a lot of people seek out inspiration
But the next thing that people will often grapple with, is how to make it work on their business page. Questions like “Is it relevant? Is it helpful? Is it inspiring? Why would I share this?”.
Contentology is all about inspiring you to share more of YOU on your business page.
WHY?
Because we all want to get to know YOU.
We want to feel connected.
We want to feel inspired BY you – not just by what you do, but by WHO YOU ARE.
You can check out the latest challenge, where I have thrown up $1000 to be won! YES. $1000 cold hard cash transferred to you if you are crowned the Feb 2022 Queen of Contentology.
We’ve seen people have massive improvement in their engagement.
Improvement in their sales.
Improvement in their consistency.
Improvements in their motivation.
Improvements in their confidence.
What more could you ask for??!! Ha! Not much 😉
