There’s nothing worse than worrying and feeling frustrated when you FEEL like you just don’t have enough clients.
Have YOU had moments where you think “Just 2 new clients would change EVERYTHING”? You’re NOT ALONE!
I started marketing myself as a business about 5 years ago. And BY GOLLY! It’s been a long journey, I have to tell you – WORTH IT…but long!
What I’ve learned during that time by trial, error, learning, testing, measuring and everything in between is that there are some ‘easier’ ways to get clients and there are some harder ways.
What I’d like to share with you today is a list of ways that you can get clients.
As I was putting this list together I was imagining what it must be like for YOU.
You see.. everyone I speak with these days tells me that it’s SO HARD. They feel overwhelmed. Frustrated. They feel like they’re trying EVERYTHING but nothing really seems to work. And we all know what happens next, right? Self doubt kicks in. Fear takes a hold. Ego kicks in . Shame enters. We bottle things up. Then explode without warning.
Now… I am here to tell you that the list you’re about to see is certainly not the fully-comprehensive list. There’s a load more ways that you can get clients – but it is the list that I believe that you can leverage QUICKLY and get results.
Without any further ado, here you are!
- With you Facebook business page start posting MULTIPLE times per day content that helps your ideal client. The general rule of thumb is to not post more than once per hour, and mix it up with text posts, picture graphics, video and anything that springs to mind! Remember that your ideal client (prospect) has a problem. Actually, they have many problems!!! Use a variety of posts to help them from a multitude of angles. (eg. If you’re a health pro, people might be feeling unmotivated, squishy, have an up and down mindset, they don’t know how to stop cortisol production, they’re tired, stressed, fatigued, busy, not prioritising themselves, don’t understand self care and WANT to eat well but get busy and so don’t focus on the eating clean-type stuff).
- When you get a new liker on your Facebook business page, send them a PERSONALISED message that welcomes them to your community. Invite them to interact with you in there. Perhaps offer them something else for free so as to engage with them and then continue to build the RELATIONSHIP with them from there.
- Get on the phone! One of the biggest things that people resist are the EXACT things that are going to bring them the QUICKEST result. Talk to people about their problem and how you can help them to solve it. Show them that you are an expert at what you do while you’re speaking with them – not from a place of ego but more from a place of authority.
- Find out what networking events are on in your local area (or wherever you’re going to be) and go and talk to people!!!! (Are you starting to see a pattern here?) Talk with them. Ask questions. Ask open-ended questions so that people open up to you. Add value. Then, ask them if they’d like to have a chat or catch up later if you feel like there might be a connection there.
- Send an email out to your database and ask people if they’re still looking for help in the area of your expertise. eg. If you’re a life coach and your niche of people are having problems with MINDSET, then you’ll send them something out along the lines of “Are you still looking for help with having a healthy mindset?” and then you’ll suggest that they hop on the phone with you (or skype if they’re overseas if that’s easier for you).
- You could do a launch of your service with a free thing and then offer people your course/program/session off the back of that. This way, you’re positioning a ‘Free Thing’ that helps people and then you can keep helping people whilst offering a ‘next step’.
- In terms of other social media that you can leverage, why not head over to LinkedIn and see what you can see over there? Are there groups in there that you can join and comment on the posts? This is again about adding value to the people that you’re interacting with rather than going in and being ‘all pitchy’. Pitchy = off-putting. Add value. Add value. Add value. Ask if they’d like to take the next step.
- Put on a workshop! This is one of my tried and tested favourites – and my clients’ faves too!!!! Offer a workshop/hotseat/intensive/retreat-style ‘thing’ and give them a TON of value in the workshop. Help them to work through whatever it is that they need help with and then you can ask them towards the end of the workshop if they need any more help with continuing on with what they’ve learned. If you structure your workshop ‘properly’ then this is a very easy thing to achieve. (eg. If you’re a Mindset Coach, you’ll probably know that your ideal clients have a tough time managing their mindset. Why not do a mediation workshop. Run it for 3 hours and do some practical implementation within the workshop. At the end you will ask the attendees if they feel confident keeping their meditation practice happening regularly and if they say “not sure or I’d don’t know” then offer your ‘next thing’ and some accountability.
- Offer an online mini-course where you step people through the way to achieving whatever it is that they want to achieve. You could do it as a 7-Day Challenge, a 4 week mini-course, a breakthrough series, a blog series, a series of webinars, a series of telecalls. There are SO many options here. Then, once they’ve gone through that you do the same kind of thing in #8 – ask them if they want further help with implementation and things like that 🙂
- Go around and put some flyers up locally. If you frequent a coffee shop ask them if you can put some flyers on their counter. If there’s a clothing store you go to, do the same thing. If you have the ability to leverage off local councils and county’s DO THAT! Most of these places have email lists and may be willing to send something out on your behalf offering something for free – PARTICULARLY if they’re in the business of supporting local businesses and local communities.
There you have it! 10 tried and tested ways to get clients.
