THE BEST WAY TO CREATE NICHE DIFFERENTIATION
How long have you been denying what you really really want?
Like, deep in the cockles of your heart want?
Like, the things that you probably don’t ever really admit to anyone else, except perhaps in those unleashed moments (perhaps with the assistance of alcohol) where you declare to all and sundry what you want, but then pull back because it’s not ‘realistic’ or ‘valid’ or you can’t see the way forward?
Now, this doesn’t mean of course that you simply must act right now on all of those deep desires that you may have…it’s important to admit to yourself, though, that you want what you say you want.
For instance, if you want to be a Rockstar, have you admitted that? Like a literal Rockstar, commanding the stage and connecting with the audience and really rocking. It. Out?
I read a post about this earlier today where someone had said that they wanted to have sex in an elevator. Ok, cool! No judgement, right? You can what you want.
What about this… do you want to be a best selling author?
Do you want to live off the grid?
Do you want to build wells in Africa or start an orphanage in Bali?
Are you tired and want to sleep for 3 days?
WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY WANT?
Because until you answer that, you are likely to get the watered down version of what your heart desires.
You’re going to get things that will not make you happy.
You’ll create circumstances that don’t necessarily align with that big thing that you want…
NOW.
Think about the different areas of your life. For instance HEALTH, RELATIONSHIPS, FUN, SOUL, SOCIAL, MONEY, BUSINESS/CAREER.
What is it you really really want in each of those areas?
Get super honest with yourself around this… but I want you to really spend some time digging deeper into it versus ‘lose 10 kg’ or ‘find a man’ or ‘make $100K a month’… Yes, work that first thing out, but then go deeper.
What do each of things mean for you? Or get for you? Or make you feel? And then go deeper. And then deeper. And then deeper. What else do you want? And then what else?
So this way, you find that you get to know yourself at a whole different level.
For me, when I looked at some of this, it brought up some old shame stories (yay. *eyeroll*). It brought up feelings of ‘I wonder if that’s being a bit greedy’ and even ‘really?! Is that REALLY what I want”?
What if there were no boundaries? No limitations to what you want?
Don’t judge it. Just get really clear on it.
From there, the next thing is to do this for the people who you want to bring into your business with your marketing.
You knew this wasn’t just going to be single faceted, right!?!?!?!? Right!!!!
What you’re going to do now, is work out what these things are for your HOT COAL CLIENTS who you want to bring into the business.
Who are they?
What do they do?
What are their deepest, soul-fire desires, goals and dreams?
The thing to do from there, is to go deeper the way that you’ve done for yourself.
The amazing thing about this when you do this, is it gives you a very specific way of speaking and connecting with your audience, right?
CONSIDER THIS AS AN EXAMPLE FROM A MARKETING PERSPECTIVE…
Marketing is all about standing out, connecting and motivating your audience into doing something – ideally with you!
Think of the voice. Where someone comes up on stage and the person starts singing.
They’re listening for something. For something different. For a connection. To be entertained and moved.
Some of the coaches will LOVE it and some won’t.
Some of them will think it’s amazing and others will disagree.
They’re all singing.
They’ve all got their own flavour.
They all have a good voice otherwise they wouldn’t even have made it this far…
So what creates the connection?
The person doing the singing and the story telling lights the spark….
Then the person on the receiving end either accepts it or not.
Your marketing in business is the same.
The sounds wash over everyone and some people will listen and some won’t….
But if you don’t know what your audience are looking for…
If you don’t know what is going to connect with them..
If you don’t know how to get them to turn their metaphorical chair you’re stuffed.
So get SUPER clear on who these people are at level that not one other person could get to for your audience.
For your hot coal clients are someone elses’ disaster clients or even boring clients.
Get clear on what their obvious AND secret goals, dreams and desires are and you’re halfway there.
Next, it’s about creating content that is different to that of everyone else so that you can actually retain their attention J
