Your Permission Slip (Not that you need one, really)

Funny how, even as adults we somehow feel like we need permission to be who we are, right?

From school, we get pushed into a ‘pathway’ so that we can prepare for ‘the way’ our life is to pan out. Which, for christs’ sake, is being from kids as young as 12. Who the fark knows that they want to do when they’re 35 let alone when they’re 12??!?!?!?

Anyway. There’s a lot of ‘stuff’ that goes on with different people in the world and who you take advice from. And usually, we’re taking advice from them, because they have done things in a certain way, which is great. BUT if they’re imparting their beliefs onto you, that’s not a good thing

It’s a little bit like a therapist I was seeing for a while there about some pretty intense anxiety I was experiencing, and he said to me “Nicola. Everyone will disappoint you and all clients are difficult at some point”. I was like “I’m not accepting that!”! We had a bit of argy-bargy over that.

Because I was like “Oh hell no. I will not accept that” because if we accept that in our reality, guess what? YOU’VE GOT IT! That’s what we manifest. So no. Just no. Be discerning about what you take on board.

To get back to the point of this blog today, if you were to imagine that you’re standing in the nosebleed section a concert, watching an artist that you love.

You can put yourself there instantly, right?

Standing there, head tilted back. Watching. Soaking it all in.

Now, I want to play along with for a moment.

You feel a connection with the artist. Like the songs that they’re singing are being sung just for you. They’re relevant to you. The rest of the audience tends to shrink away into nothing and you stand there kind of transfixed.

Every now and again, you look at the person next to you, you share a smile, and go back to watching what’s happening on stage.

You go home and for the next week, twice a day, with your beautiful voice., you belt out song after song… in the shower. Yes. You ‘re showering twice a day, because the acoustics in that bathroom are to die for.

You have a great voice.

A great tone.

You have feeling in your voice.

Like Bradley Cooper and Lady GaGa in “A Star Is Born”, if people were to hear you sing, they would BELIEVE YOU. Because you sing with such heart and soul.

But here’s the problem….

Singing in the shower doesn’t get your voice out there. It doesn’t get the words that you NEED to get out there.

“That’s just the truth. If there’s one reason we’re supposed to be here, is to say somethin’ so people wanna hear it. So you gotta grab it and you don’t apologize you don’t worry about why they’re listenin’ or how long they’re gonna be listening for. You just tell em what you wanna say.” ~ Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper, A Star Is Born)

Far too often we get caught up in the push to conform. To fit in the 9 dots. To play within the rules. But what if there weren’t any, really?

I’ve been known to help people structure of marketing, advertising, blogs and the like. But the thing that I have ALWAYS said, is that it’s a framework.

Something to work within, so that you can interlace YOU, your message, your heart and soul through everything that you do.

Imagine now, back to the concert. You look up at the stage and I know that you can imagine that it’s YOU UP THERE.

You’re up there.

Singing to your fans.

Lighting up THEIR souls on fire, just like they do for you.

They sing your song.

They sing WITH you.

They are with you.

But you don’t get there by staying in the shower and playing it safe.

YOU need to get out there .

You need to be seen.

YOU need to be visible.

If you have a song inside of you that SIMPLY MUST GET OUT, then welcome home!

You’ll love my Visible™ Expansion Program, which is all about getting YOU out there, in a way that works for you.

The world is waiting for you to show up.

Your audience are waiting for you to show up.

They’re waiting for you to step up.

I totally get that it can be scary.

Vulnerable.

Because this is about putting YOU out there, right?

Your thoughts.

Your IP.

Your opinions.

And that can be a confronting….

But something that I have known, that I have always known, is that if you really want to stand out amongst the ‘players’ out there – the people who are faking it till they make it…

The people who are desperately trying one thing and then another and jumping around like their feet are on the burning hot summer concrete… but somehow they seem to capture attention for a short while…

If you REALLY WANT TO BE VISIBLE, then you’ve honestly just got to leap.

Your business, your lifestyle, your very being depends on it.

Come join me. If you have questions, inbox me and I’m super happy to answer them for you.

And by the way, just in case you felt like you needed it, here’s your PERMISSION SLIP: Do things YOUR WAY, baby.

Create something, write something, film something, share something in SUCH A WAY that you would want to be involved with it.

I made that decision last year with my webinars, with my events, with my clients, with everything, actually.

It’s pretty freaking liberating.
