The Internet Fable

The Internet Fable

There are days that are awesome and you feel on top of the world.

Then there are days when you don’t.

One of the most ill-conceived notions around entrepreneurialism is that we feel jazzed and motivated all the time.

I know. I know. We want our prospective clients to know that we can help them. I agree.

We want them to feel like we are the right people to help them.

We want them to believe that we have our shit together so that we can help them get (and keep) their shit together.

The ideas that The Internet has propagated are as follows:

  • Instant millions just add a funnel
  • it’s important that you’re high vibe all of the time, otherwise you won’t get what you want.
  • Go ahead and join other people’s groups because your people are in there and they need you.
  • Spend all of the money you have on a coach so you can manifest the money you want.
  • Your beliefs are getting in the way of your success
  • It’s easy. I can do it in 4 hours per week and you can too. .
  • No following? No money? No ideas? No intellectual property? No problem. We’ll journal it in and the money will flow.
  • If you price something at 99c everyone will buy something and then you’ll be a millionaire shortly
  • Selling? Pfft. People will totally understand what you’re selling and will seek you out. No need to sell.
  • You must, must own a luxury bag
  • You have to only stay at 5-star hotels
  • Take some photos with your laptop on the beach. Everyone wants the laptop lifestyle
  • No bad days y’all. I’m living the dream

Sound familiar? Now, I’m not saying that some of these don’t work. Or that you can’t do them. Or that you can’t have them.

But the fact of the matters is this….

The reality of growing a business takes:

  • Grunt work
  • Persistence
  • Mindset work
  • Constant offers

You are NOT a charity. You need to make money. Which means you need to make sales. Full stop. No returns.

You are NOT going to get rich or wealthy or have people throw money at you if you haven’t put anything of value out there.

You are NOT going to have money magically appear in your bank account by doing mindset work alone. By releasing blockages on their own. By journalling on it’s own.

You. Need. To. Take. Action.

Consistent action.

Daily.

If you do not have a BANK OF CONTENT that you have created to draw upon, then those down days (and there are down days) are going to feel torturous.

If you do not do your sales actions, people are likely to forget what it is that you do, who you are and what you’re offering.. and then they won’t pay you!!!!!

If you are trying to do it alone… without a mentor who ‘gets it’ or without a freaking tribe who get it… or without a damn good friend who gets it…. Then chances of you surviving this adventure… well… I don’t like those chances.

Everyone always says to you to come back to YOUR WHY. Why are YOU doing this? Why do YOU want this?

If you’re looking to make easy money well HA! This ain’t easy. Doing the bit where you’re doing the thing you do – the coaching, the training, the mentoring… that’s the easy bit. IT’s all the other bits that can be challenging.

Learning to market yourself.
Learning to put yourself out there.
Managing your mindset all the damn time.
Extending yourself.
Getting uncomfortable.
Learning to sell…
Learning to upsell…
Learning to retain…
Learning all of the things.

Most importantly learning to LET GO of the insane and overpowering desire to have everything done yesterday.

My two cents for today is to allow yourself to go a bit easier on yourself.

Meet YOURSELF where you’re at.

And then step by step, little by little, keep taking consistent action to move forwards and upwards.

Focus on the things that are going to produce revenue.
Focus on consistency.
Focus on intentionality.
Focus on adding value
Focus on helping people

And remember that this thing is the ride of your life. And I still want you doing what you’re doing in the next 5 years! Not burned out. Not tired. Not overwhelmed. Not disenchanted. Not disgruntled.

But instead, filled with joy and anticipation every day that you head to ‘work’.

Bottom line is this: You’ve got this. And keep doing the ACTUAL things that are ALL necessary to get to where you want to be: The Grunt work. Be Persistent. Do the Mindset work. Be Constant with your offers.

And Remember: The World Is Ready For Your Brand of Awesome.
